3 Little Changes That Will Actually Change Your Life
When you make little, easy changes, you change your day-to-day life.
Even when it seems like a small change, the way we live in the day-to-day becomes the way we spend all of our days on this Earth.
So really, even the smallest changes can have a huge, positive impact on the grand scheme of your life.
Here are 3 little changes you can try out and just see the positive effects they have on your life.
1. Trade Scrolling on Social Media for Reading
Scrolling on your phone and reading a book take about the same amount of energy, but the latter is a near guarantee to relax your body and do wildly good things for your mind.
It’s not like you have to swear off the first one. Social media has incredible opportunities to inspire and be inspired, but it’s also no secret by now that it can also bring up a lot of negative feelings and suck up a lot of your time.
Keep a book next to you for those times you feel stuck scrolling on social media. That way, when you catch yourself scrolling when you don’t even want to be, all you have to do is reach over, grab your book, and suddenly you have a productive way to let your mind escape and expand.
2. Go Outside More
Every time you step outside, nature gives you about a million beautiful little things to look at, sunshine has the power to boost your mood and fresh air, well, just take a quick Google search of all the benefits of fresh air.
So even when you don’t have the time or energy to go on an adventure or even go very far from home, just go outside. Take a walk, lay a blanket in the grass, sit on your porch, sit by the water, drive to a pretty spot, literally anywhere! Just get outside!
Whenever you can, take whatever you’re doing and move outside. Whether you’re reading, writing, doing homework, painting, making bracelets, writing to-do lists, drinking your morning coffee, planning a trip, answering emails, or scrolling on your phone, just do it outside instead.
Even just setting aside 10 minutes to sit in the sunshine just might benefit you more than you can imagine.
I think the thoughts that run through our mind are based on the experiences we have and determine the way we percieve the world. I also think that seeing wildflowers, studying the details of an oak tree, watching the sunset, laying under the stars, seeing the world in the light of golden hour, and watching the ocean waves are near guarantees to seeing this world in a beautiful light.
3. Don’t Wear Clothes that Make You Feel Icky
I found my confidence and learned to love the visible parts of my being with the help of clothing. I wanted to share it with you in case you have been searching for the same piece of peace.
I have lived with body dysmorphia for years now.
In the pursuit of finding a life beyond the overwhelming worry and sinking feeling of picking apart my flaws, feeling uncomfortable in my own skin, and imagining how I am perceived, I started to focus my energy on the clothes I wear.
I started to focus more on piecing together fun outfits than on what my body looked like in them.
It started out as just this- a distraction and a hope that other people would see the outfit I was wearing and wouldn’t notice what my body looked like.
But with time, picking outfits started to feel like just another way to create a piece of art and express the parts of me that can’t normally be seen.
I used to blame my body when clothes didn’t fit well or just looked by. But it turns out that its true what they say- “clothes are meant to fit you, not the other way around.” Find the colors, styles, and sizes that feel right for you and avoid the ones that don’t. Express your creativity as you pick out your outfits and wear the ones that make you feel good.
